Did you know that those black streaks are costing you money?
Most people don't know and realize that these blacks streaks are an airborne algae that floats onto the roof and starts feeding off oflimestone that the shingle manufactures use as a filler to give the shingles more weight to keep them from blowing up so easily.This limestone is like a buffet for this algae and with a little moisture from the morning dew and rains it can live rather comfortably on the north side of a roof. But what is wrong with this algae feeding on my roof?
Well, if these ugly black streaks are allowed to continue feed off of your roof it will slowly eat away at the shingles until they lose theintregrity to protect your roof resulting in an early roof replacement which can cost thousands of dollars.
We have actually heard recently that insurance companies are starting to not insure a home with a these algae streaks on the shingles and requiringthem to be cleaned before they will provide a policy for their home!!
